CBS BOARD Richard J. Lorenzo, chairman CERTIFICATE OF APPRECIATION AND RECOGNITION This Lifetime Award is presented to ED SILVERMAN In recognition of valuable contributions and service to the CBS 'Board' and ABC TV & Radio Ed Silverman was cited by the CBS Board for his distinguished career in broadcast journalism. He served as a TV network news correspondent, commentator, analyst and producer. He was Assistant Director of News Operations for the ABC TV network and Director of News and Public Affairs for WABC-TV, New York. Among Ed's notable broadcasts: He was first on the air for ABC TV during the JFK assassination, broadcast the JFK funeral, and the Jack Ruby Trial, was pool correspondent for the networks at Guantanamo during the Cuban missile crisis, co- anchored astronaut Gordon Cooper's space flight, covered the March on Washington, the admission of James Meredith to Ole Miss (and the ensuing riots), national and local elections, the visits of Nikita Khrushchev and Fidel Castro, broadcast the America's Cup Race from the Goodyear Blimp, plus a host of other major stories.
